This is the current garden layout sans fence
That is a beautiful garden..and to be honest, I’m not sure I’d want chickens in it or on the lovely stone...my birds came to me with clipped wings...they obviously don’t fly...but my younger bunch will not be clipped and I plan to go the route of a more heavy duty fence, despite not being the most beautiful
 
It seems silly but in all the years I have had mine they never jumped a 3 foot garden fence.

Funny, they eat every tomato that grows through or over the fence but they have never breached the perimeter to get at them.
 
This is me, trying to keep my girls OUT of my vegetable garden:lau

Gorgeous garden. It's evident that you are into the aesthetics of how it will all look. I'd recommend a four foot fence over three feet. Unless they are very light breeds, usually that will keep them in. There are a variety of ways to make the fence more attractive and blend with your style like those seen here:
