Trying to confirm if my GLW and SLW are hens or roo's.... Anyone have any thoughts?
Take a close look at their saddle feathers and those at the base of their neck. If they are rounded and short=girls... long and pointy=boys.
Nice looking birds too!
Hi everyone, can anyone tell me how the standard should look with this breed? Should there be more black than gold etc? Or does it matter? Here are a few pics of my girls, can you tell me what you think? Thanks!
I've come across this website which gives the standard for Wyandottes, don't know if this will be helpful or not. Your chickens are lovely, by the way. Hope my Goldens turn out like that! Here is a link: http://www.wyandottebreedersofamerica.net/wyandottestandard.htm
In my experience, the combs seem to give them away first. They always look bigger and more red than the pullets within the first few weeks. Once their feathers start growing, you can tell by the saddle feathers and the hackle feathers. Of course, I always wait to hear that first crow to be completely sure.
