I rescued a male and female golden sebright. They are said to be 3yrs old. The male is male feathered. Which I’ve been told makes him “hatchery quality” which is fine by me I don’t intend to show birds. I hatched 4 of their eggs, because I just love them. Two of the chicks seem to look more silver/cream rather then golden (I will post pics) I know that they can’t be a true silver lace. But can hatchery quality birds produce different color variations? Also can sebrights be wing sexed, or do males have spots on their heads.

Wing sexing has to be bred for and they won't have a headset as their pattern is laced and it doesn't work like barring.
It's normal for then to be lighter than their parents.

This is Ginger Roo at 2wks after we got him (feed store bantam bin) and then now at 18wks. I will try to find a younger pic of when he was still all fuzz.

I love sebrights. i have 2, one is a silver roo and the other is a gold laced hen.

I am wondering the same thing about size. I have one at just 9 weeks old, and she such a tiny little thing, and talks so much. Mother was a black silkie, father was the silver sebright. Im wondering if its normal about her growth. Its father started crowing at 4weeks old and was a lot faster at growing. She just fits in my hand and not crowing or showing signs of a roo. I added pictures along with her father, and her biological mother is next to him on the roost. I have another silkie that raised her and she doesn't leave her side. She is so adorable and so tiny. My luck its a he though hahhaa

Its quite normal to have iffy chick feathering as chicks like in the picture.
However I don't recommend breeding hatchery sebrights (I breed show quality ones), but it's upto you.
