The far reaching eaves dropping our Govt is allowing the NSA to do using the reason for National Security is a bit much in my opinion. Building a 5 million sq ft building complex with enough server storage space to circle the earth and moon thousands of times using a thickness measure of an cell phone seems overkill. At least this is public, compared to Area 51 being denied for decades that it even existed.I can only wonder how enough humans employed can read-decide which communications are a threat, given the zillions of megabytes sent on Google alone daily.Straying from the topic a bit,,but a simple question about NSA and their abilities
If we use the internet to pay bills,I personally always make sure the url reads https:// meaning it's a secure server, protected with encryptions for info that is put in ect,and all that access a site with a server that is secure is traceable. So,does NSA monitor procedures over a https:// server? And I wonder if we would started using encrypted e-mails and such,if that would slow them all down prying into our lives?

The NSA has been around for a long time. Back when I was in the navy submarines (1970's), no one talked about them, there was even a joke when someone asked about a message with the header NSA, what NSA meant we told them "No Such Agency".

The people that wrote the programs for your encrypted E Mails are the ones that weren't good enough to work for the NSA. If the NSA wants to know how much you paid on any of your bills that you paid over the internet they will.

The government didn't deny there was an area 51, they would not deny or confirm there was. It's like if the navy is asked if a ship or submarine has any nuclear weapons on board, the answer will be "I can nether confirm or deny that". Even when the submarine is a missile sub., and it's the same answer if it's a row boat.

Just because it's been around/hidden for a long time doesn't make what it's doing right.

Dennis, some of these articles are a couple of years old, but they show the intended direction of Chinese economic policy. It worries me. If you watch the Kitco spot gold trading, you will notice that the price seems to rise until the trading opens in New York. Then it seems to fall. Could it be the US government selling gold to defend the dollar? The US gold reserve has not been audited since 1954. Who knows how much is left in Fort Knox.

The U.S. government doesn't sell gold to defend the dollar.
I wish that China does decide to back their currency with gold. That would raise the value of their currency and stop most of their exports, and the gold market is very easy to game. But even they aren't that dumb, it would be their downfall.

Yet another opinion. The more I read, the scarier it gets.

That sounds like a reason to stop reading those stories.

There are several things they purposely state wrong. One is that all oil is traded in dollars, all oil is priced in dollars. So if you want to buy a barrel of oil from the Saudis, and the price of oil today is $100 U.S.D then you can show up with 77 Euros and you will get your barrel of oil (the number of Euros depends on the exchange rate that day). Same with British Pounds or German Marks, there are some currencies that they will charge a handling fee (India's currency is not to stable).

As I said before China isn't going to tie their currency to gold. No one would tie their currency to anything that can change a few hundred dollars up or down in a week or so. What would have happened the Yuan if they had tied it to gold when gold was $1,900 an oz. and now it's about $1,300 an oz. ? You sure wouldn't want to have been holding any Yuan.

The same thing with the Euro, it will never be backed by gold. They have enough problems in Europe. And don't go with that, they'll back their currency with a basket of commodities. How would that work ? Backing a currency with something means that you can take that currency to a bank and get what it's backed with. So if you had a hundred Euros and wanted to turn them in, what would you get ? A quart of oil, a pound of wheat, some sausage, 8 carrots, and 1/2 a pork belly ? Will the banks have to store all that ? So will grocery stores turn in to currency exchange centers ? Kind of like what they do now.

You need to stop reading the sites that are trying to sell gold.

And yet another opinion: http://americanfreepress.net/?p=9899

This would explain those rapid vacillations in the gold market. Now, what is the constant? The dollar or the gold?

If you don't look at the freight train, will it not hit you? I am pretty sure it will.
