If #1 is a cockerel, his wattles should be pinking up real soon. Maran roosters are known for that. Although #2 has a bigger comb, they might actually be mixed with legbars (which commonly have bigger combs ) keep an eye on that one. #3 is feathering in a tad more slowly, but I wouldn’t give up hope on that one being a pullet just yet. #4 and #5 look like pullets to me.

I’m sure you’ll have better guesses in 2 weeks :)
Thank you for the info! Time shall tell!

I love this stage. With the feathers all patchy and growing in. They look so funny and cute! I have 10 chicks and I’m going through the guessing game as well! It’s so stressful but fun to question your own guesses on your birds.

WEEK 5 UPDATE:

We’ve had some warm weather so the chicks have been experiencing the backyard. 1 aka Daniel the Rooster is looking more and more like a rooster. 2 is also looking more like a rooster, large Comb and wattle development. 3 is beginning to look more like a hen. 4 & 5 seem to be hens as well.

What breed did you say 2 and 4 are? I have a bird that looks a bit similar and it’s suppose to be an Amerucana/Easter Egger.

Also, your guesses seem to really be spot on! I wish mine were that easy, but time will tell.

They are sage eggers from alchemist farms.

WEEK 6 UPDATE:

Sticking with my past guesses. 1 & 2 appear to be roosters. I suspect 3-5 are hens.

Looking at 2 and 4, the black breast vs the salmon breast. Black is roo color, salmon is hen color. Not every breed of chipmunk striped chick has the color difference, didn't know the sage Eggers did.

That’s interesting, I was noticing the color but was unsure if that was a sign.
