I'm new to chicks. I know this is just a guessing game at this age, so I'm just looking for your best guess. I can keep roosters where I'm at but I was hoping these two would be a breeding pair. I have a few younger silkie in a brooder so there's still hope for hens.

Suspected Roo #1
Frizzle silkie, straight run
Possibly 5-6 weeks, midway feathering out.
Mostly docile other than getting into chest bumps with known rooster of same age, jumps in the air to avoid him too. Acts defensive of the larger white silkie below but sometimes hides under them.

Suspected Roo #2
Silkie, straight run
Possibly 7-8 weeks, fully feathered
I thought this one was female but I'm second guessing myself with the feathers on the back of head and wide comb. Docile other than some pecking at others.

Now I know this is all speculation at this age, maybe 2 weeks. I don't think this is a pure silkie. This little one has stayed very small though while other chicks seem to outgrow it.. has very feathered feet and with this raised comb, is this still good indicator that it's a cockeral?

2 weeks later, the younger black one has large wattles and the comb is growing but this one still has none. Poor chickie gets so dusty.

I'm wondering...
Could it still have a chance of being a hen or is it just a late developer?
Is this a satin silkie?

Yes, that's a satin.
The comb is making me want to say that it could be a pullet, but with those streamers I'm pretty sure he's just a late bloomer. I had one last year that I thought was a pullet until he was around 17-20 weeks old. Turned out to be a rooster. But that was my first time owning silkies and I probably missed some earlier signs.
