Hi all, just wondering if anyone out there has some advice for me. I recently (2weeks ago) introduced a male peacock in with my hens. They have been kept locked up together since he arrived but I'm finding my girls don't seem to want to have too much to do with him. They aren't being especially aggressive towards him but there has been the odd pecking him and chasing him. How long does it usually take for a male to be accepted and how long should I keep them locked up together? My girls were free range during the day and locked up at night and they seem really keen to get out for a wander and forage around, burin not sure he will stay with them as yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It takes a while. It has been about 8 months and my top hen still chases and pecks at the newbie. She doesn't do it all the time anymore but when he is fanning and dancing is when she'll do it.
