......We have "house quail" at the moment.


The quail are old enough to go outside. In fact, they just started laying eggs. However, it's -2'F with a windchill of -16'F, so it's too much temp diff to put them out now. In the meantime, the kids have trained them well. They actually seem to enjoy lap snuggles & watching TV.

Except owl eyes are way more hilarious! BTW, did you know, owls can't move their eyes? That's why they turn their heads 270 degrees, and they have double the neck vertebrae as us! That's what makes their necks so flexible!
