How important is shoe cleaning

We have chickens and ducks, soon we'll have turkeys. How important is shoe cleaning before we go into each area (building and yard)?

I have never bothered. If you have blackhead in your area you may want to be more careful, but for the most part I haven't seen any cross species illness spreading.

It's often best to have turkeys in a separate area away from chickens, because of the issues with blackhead. It might be worthwhile to have fecals run on your chickens to see if cecal worms are present. If yes, it's a problem for turkeys. If not, maybe it won't be a big deal.
Some flocks have big problems, others not.

Where do you live is there a big issue there with blackheads in Turkeys

I live on sandy soil, and my neighbor a mile away has clay, more moisture, and a pond available to her birds. She lost a chicken, and then several peafowl, before having the necropsies that showed Heterachis as the problem.
