How small should I cut up apple for chickens??

Try hanging the whole apple and watch. Keeps them occupied and can be funny. It is a great trick to keep them from being bored.

Well, I gave them some chunks. Tossed a couple in and they grabbed them and ran. Then I set down their yogurt(which I treat them to every few days), and they dropped the apples and attacked the yogurt...then went back and burried the apples...lol. Guess it'll give them something to look for later.

I feed'm whole, not cut at all. Check back later in the day and it's gone. Seeds-stem everything.

Whole apples are fine, are you kidding - they pretty sharp beaks. Mine love playing around with them like it's a game and then eating.

You really don't need to cut it up. If you want to, just put a couple in with them, and they will finish them off!

What about the seeds?

I used to cut apples up for my flock. Then I saw them get an apple that had fallen from the tree and knew they didn't need them cut up anymore.

Please remember to remove apple seeds as they contain cyanide. I learned this when I was rescuing exotic birds.

I had some apple cores I was going to give to the girls but changed my mind right before tossing them in the run. Instead I tossed them to the squirrels instead because of the seeds.

Should I not worry about the seeds since so many people give whole apples?
