how to give chickens pills?

My vet prescribed Baytril as well for my Australorp hen. After a bit of chicken wrestling and then reading about the dangers of aspiration here on BYC, I decided to break the pill into little bits and feed with a small handful of laying crumble. Got it to go down pronto and stress-free. Happy chicken, happy me!

I personally would crush it up and use a syringe, but I just can't picture myself pushing a pill down a chickens throat. I can barely get mine to open their mouths for a routine check

I have a chicken that I have to give clavamox to, its in pill form. Should I give it to her whole. I've tried putting it in food. She just had surgery because a catgot ahold of her. Any ssuggestions. I don't want to hurt her.
