Huddlers

I've heard that if the chicks huddle close to the heat source, they're too cold and if they're spread out away from the source, they're too hot. My chicks have been huddling away from the heat -- what does this mean? Their box seems warm but not too hot. I'm confused. Thanks.

if your chicks are huddleing away from the heat sauce that suggest that theres either a draft in the brooder or they are too hot under the lamp and too cold not under it

Thanks. You were right. There was a draft. I covered it and now they seem happier.
