In the Brooder
I have celiac and I was having severe skin reactions to the feed and so I consulted a few different specialists and formulated a duck feed.
It contains
Whole oats that I cracked myself
wild bird seed fruit and nut blend
Alfalfa
Black Oil Sunflower seeds that I cracked myself
Meal worms
Safflower seeds that are slightly cracked/ bruised for more ready fermentation
Kelp meal
Millet
Grit
Oyster shell
With added Vitamins and electrolytes with probiotics
I then ferment it. I bruised/cracked the harder seeds because it makes the nutrients more ready for fermentation and it makes it easier for the ducks to eat. That way there is less waste. It's about 18% protein and I add meal worms on top for the young ones to make it reach their optimum 20%. Sometimes I also supplement with fish. They love fish. It's also 16.9% crude fat and 21% crude fiber.
I am currently trying to figure out if there is a way to easily dry the fermented mash for easier storage and possibly to ship/sell to people.
I also have a formula for the baby ducks that I have. If anyone is interested.
