My Mom's puppy attacked my drake Pippin! He has a lot of broken feathers and bloody skin.
Should I give him Baytril?

K good. Do you have betadine (iodine ointment)? Thats just under his neck right? How deep is it?No I don't, my Mom is out and she could get some.
Dont do this until a more knowledgeable person confirms it. But heres what I would do. Cut down all the feathers around the wound so you can see exactly whats happening. Disinfect it (vetricyn and betadine are my go tos). Then make a bandage and wrap him up. Does he have any broken bones?
Is the crop damaged? Watch when he drinks and see if anything comes out. Did you say your mom works at a vet clinic? If he were mine I would carefully pluck the feathers 1/4" away from the wound edges (pluck in direction they grow to avoid further tearing of skin). Once plucked, I would flush the wound with saline, and maybe chlorhexidine. I would *not* give Baytril.
I prefer plucking the feathers back.Dont do this until a more knowledgeable person confirms it. But heres what I would do.
