Nope. I was so sure. We had an excess of roosters last Fall and I had already dispatched 11 as I chose keepers & culls. Put body in wheel barrow for next day burial (too tough & scrawny to eat so did not cut & bleed). Next morning he was running in neighbor's field. At least he calmed down & quit terrorizing the girls. He has quit fighting and accepted his lower position in the hierarchy, even beneath the older hens.
Such a relief. I do hate killing them. Tried a bachelor house but they terrorized any hens who went foraging. My top rooster was getting worn out discipling the bad boys. Animal husbandry!
