I have had Soos a single male African goose for 8 yrs. He lives outside with my chickens. But if I'm out there he is constantly with me.

I may be moving and would not be able to take him. Does Anyone know if he would/could adjust to another human family?

Oh that’s sad. I’m sorry you can’t keep him after eight years. I’m sure you’re so attached. I believe if you rehome him to somebody who spends time with their geese and has other geese., he will be able to adjust. It may take some time but since he’s been an only goose, he might be very happy to see and be with other geese especially a couple of females.

Thanks. We'd be moving to a colder climate so I think that would be worse for him. He's had female geese. But unfortunately they have passed away. He has always thought I was his. So he really never bonded with the females.

You can post about him on here https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/animals-in-need-of-free-re-homing.16182/
and in your state or your country's thread here

Soos really should be in a situation with people with other geese. He will willingly try to bond with a new family but it’s unlikely the new family will bond with him if they don’t have geese, sadly most people don’t really like geese because they assume they’re monsters or just don’t care for birds anyway.

I strongly suggest posting an add for him, seeking a new home for him that already has other geese on facebook, on Craigslist, reaching out to your local humane society, here in the buy sell trade forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/other-poultry-birds-hatching-eggs.34/ and on the forums here that Jenbirdee provided.

I was at the county fair and took home a goose...

He is one year old. He was about one when I got him. He is not with my chickens, but he can see them, and sometimes they go into his pen. He is not lonely, but he would like me to spend all day with him, if it was his choice.
