I had to take a lot of math classes in college, but they never taught chicken math 

I know! It should be a required course!

The same exact way I only wanted 3-4 chickens for eggs. Now I've got 6 big enough to lay eggs, 3 that aren't quite there yet, 6 babies that just hatched, 2 roosters and 3 turkeys...

Well, don't matter too much for me since I actually have less than half the number of chickens I started out with.

I got the current pricing of the states water quality control that we talked about a couple days ago. For the straw waddles that goes around the perimeter of the property it's $1.65 a foot installed that's only because we use 15,500 feet per year from the company that installs them. This does not include taking them up when house is finished or throwing them away. The fabric that we are required to put down on every square inch of dirt on the lot is .15 cents per square foot. This price is only for volume anything less and the price goes up significantly. This is the easy part of the states water quality act. All this to keep mud from getting to drains. Good in a way overkill in many other ways.

Sounds like the state is in bed with the manufacturer; typical CA
