Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread, and pretty new to having chickens. I grew up around them, but didn't start my own flock until last June. I hatched them in an incubator. Out of 13 eggs, only 3 hatched. Then in January, I had 10 eggs in the incubator, and only 2 hatched, and 1 of those died a few days later. I am having problems keeping my temp up high enough. It's one of those styrofoam incubators you get from tractor supply. Does anyone have any tips for getting my temps up?
I am still having trouble in my styro bators. Things got a little better with heat sinks.....I filled small/flat mason jars with warm water and put them in. That helped keep my temps a little more stable. I have seen people that wrap the incubators in blankets or clothes - making sure you leave the vent holes clear. If you go to the first page of this thread and click on the links for helpful notes in Hatching 101 - look for the section that talks about what went wrong...Hi everyone!
