My goose which I think is a gander (he's only like 3 and half months old so idk if there is a more correct term) has developed half of a... FUPA if I may use that term and if I may not use that term his foster mother, a 1.5 year old production Toulouse goose, has the same "saggy" feathers/flesh that I assumed happens because of her laying eggs but it's symmetrical between her legs. Morgan here, hatched ~May 1st (got him from MPC with a couple ducklings, his mother Gerry adopted them, don't tell her they weren't her eggs) developed this asymmetrical feature a few days ago and I just want to be sure there's no medical issue. I've only had geese since May 2022 and while I have decades of chicken experience obviously we're still sorta learning about waterfowl.

No recent behavioral changes, he is the same goose he's been since we got him. We are mostly sure he's a boy based on his behavior. (Ordered him straight run.)

The saggy abdomen is called a paunch. The two sides are called lobes. Some breeds like Pomeranians have a single lobed paunch and some breeds have no lobes but a double-lobed paunch is most common. He appears to be an Embden or a Pilgrim which are both double-lobed breeds.
In poultry shows, an asymmetrical paunch is a defect but it doesn’t harm the bird in any way, it is just less aesthetically pleasing.

I googled "goose paunch" as soon as I read your comment and what a freaking relief! Thank you!! I feel silly for having researched keeping geese before getting them but not having heard of it! Thank goodness, this is like finding out chickens' crops look like like they have a massive tumor on their right when they're just full from eating and it's normal and fine. XD thank you again, this is the best possible answer I could have gotten. he's normal!!!!

My pilgrim female only has one lobe and I was also worried at first I thought it was her thigh. I had no idea what it was called either.🤪😂
