Is this girl egg bound?

i’ve had One of my speckled sussexes in a laying box for the last 5 hours. She hasn’t moved out. She pecks at me and ruffles her feathers when I try to pick her up to check. Is my next step checking for egg bind? Just a Vaselined finger and check? Any other thoughts? Haven’t noticed any changes in her otherwise. Thoughts?

It’s 7pm here and sun is setting so just wanting to get an idea if I need to bring her in tonight. Thanks all!

Hi, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

So sorry you are worried about your hen... :hmm

BUT... she sounds more broody than egg bound... in my experience!

And yes, I have vent checked a broody... :sick

She got chicks adopted to her shortly after. :gig
