Great illustration. Line 2 is my situation - and I actually got a black and a blue. LOL.
Stunnig. Mine has her tail feathers now. So pretty. I was hoping for green eggs but I'll take those!View attachment 3375711

Mine sat on eggs in one of four nest boxes FOREVER. I kept taking them away. So I decided to let her go ahead. Left her with 4 (marked them). Waited. Sure enough 2 hatched. Both turned out to be hers. I kept removing the unmarked eggs daily or she would have had more. Once hatched, I moved to a dog crate within the coop. Gave them treats and water in their until the wee ones were leaving the nest for longer periods. Once that happened I let them all venture out if they wished. (I always took momma out once a day to do her business and eat (although I fed her in there as well)). I fed mashed up cooked egg (warm) with a bit of oatmeal. They gobbled it up. They are all doing well. They were raised with the rest of the flock from about 2 weeks. Just my doing - not sure what the pros do!When a hen is brooding do you seperate her from the flock or leave them with the flock
Isn't it funny that you can get a black or a splash from 2 blue. Interesting.
