It has begun

6:15 update (holy heck, I may just go to the house)

one of the eggs, I suspect is a bantam, has just popped out a chick.

Hey Bert, I just noticed the wire on the floor of that bator. Some folks have had issues with chicks getting their feet caught in the wires (and even ripping off toes!) Might not hurt to have the family to be sure to keep and eye on all of the toes in there.

I use rubber shelf liner, others use paper towels... then some have no trouble at all. Just wanted to point it out as something to watch for.

Sorry to hear about your eggs.

As of this morning, I have 26 total eggs in the incubator.
Last night, I had nine pips.
this morning, I had 12 pips and one chick.

awesome! I got up this morning to another hatched chick and the 4 remaining eggs all piped!

One at the top is loud... Very loud...

the main wire for the bottom, is like 1/8"

I did build a little box out of the 1/2" to separate out the eggs I thought were bantams...

This hatching thing really is addictive... When I pick up my phone I don't check Facebook, I check my BYC app to get updates on everyone's hatches!
