The light-colored birds lack the mahogany gene, so their red ground color is lighter. And can anyone tell me why 2 of mine look dark like pics I see and the other 2 are super light red?
Just to clarify for me, you say you have Buff and Lavender Orpingtons. The adult male you posted is a cross from them?I love the second chick's feet! Also one of my roosters mid-flap.
Yes, correct. And I'll get an occasional all Lavender or all Buff.Just to clarify for me, you say you have Buff and Lavender Orpingtons. The adult male you posted is a cross from them?

Thank you. I really like the rooster.. he is absolutely stunning in person.. the girls are nice and as they mature they get better. The breeder who had them was over crowded..and the chicks ( 6-10weeks old) were scrawnypoor looking, lost 2 within 2 days, gave another away that had mixed characteristics, crowed, aggressive but was a pullet, laying correct color ,mounted hens.. i gave her away to a guy been raising chickens for many years all bym..and everything eventually culled to eat.I don't hate those Jubilee. They look quite nice.
I know there is a size difference between male and female and they really probably arent full grown yet..but it seems my girls are much smaller..dont get me wrong, they arent little..I don't hate those Jubilee. They look quite nice.
