Keeping Chickens entertained

Hi, Here is the Chicken Jungle Jim I did for our girls, and yes at least 7 of them use the swings. They love it.

<3 N.C Chicken Chick <3 :

Thanks guys. All these ideas are great. How long dose it take them to learn to kick the ball?

It didn't take long at all. My EE and SS figured it out first and the others just waited and followed the treats! Now it looks like a soccer game going on.

I am going to buy one of these when I go to order my Bantams... I have never seen any reviews... Could be fun?

My girls love their treat ball. They were a little skiddish at first but figured it out. They get excited when they see me grab it to fill it up. They "kick" it all over their run.

LOL..I got mine from the feed store...Free with purchase of Manna Pro chicken treats.

I will go out after they are locked in at night and hang veggies from various perches; stick grapes on twigs in their run; hang a head of cabbage (watching them go after that is a blast). A HUGE fave is taking a flake or two of hay and putting in the run - then dumping a container of live meal worms on it. They go nuts!

I'll echo the cabbage idea, I grew cabbages in the garden this year. Every so often I'd pull one up by the roots and tie it up in the run with a rope so that it hangs just above the heads of the chickens. They have to jump up a little to eat the cabbage, which they love. It entertains them until they manage to get every bit of the cabbage.

And mice are definitely entertainment. I've watched my girls chase, catch, shake to death, tear apart and eat mice. Guess I don't have to worry about mice getting the food in the coop this winter!
