Here is the new way I keep me Chicks waterer cleaner. I use a drawer from a plastic 3 drawer storage container. Line the bottom with paper towels and a wooden block to raise up the waterer. Then place the drawer on top of the wood chips. Twice a day I replace the paper towels. This is not perfect but the water stays a lot cleaner. Don't start your chicks from day 1 with this system as they are not able to jump up in the drawer for a drink. I start this with 1 week old chicks. (BTW these chicks are for sale in Connecticut)

That's an interesting idea. I use the same type of drawer in my run for my hens, in the warmer weather. Except I just fill the drawer with water. In the summer, they can walk in it to cool off and they love to drink out of it. When I change it daily, I just dump the dirty water in my garden, it fertilizes the tomatoes great!
