Last year, Gwinnett county, in which the city of Lawrenceville, Georgia is contained, changed their ordinances to allow backyard chickens in residential zoning with a handful of reasonable conditions regarding sanitation, number of birds per lot size, and no roosters.

However, the city of residence, Lawrenceville, still has bans based on zone that forbids"animal husbandry," in all but agricultural residential zones. City unfortunately overrides county law in this.

Any advice on getting local law changed? I've started a facebook group to find people of like mindedness and emailed my city coucil members and mayor. Anyone in Gwinnett County that helped with that initial change, I would love to hear from you especially! Anyone in Lawrenceville, feel free to search for my Chickens for Lawrenceville facebook group. Any support or suggestions or feedback is would be highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
