I've seen show chickens at the fairs wear legband things.
What is the purpose for legbands ?

Just to know whats what, e.g you have 2 chickens that you can't tell apart, or if you have a pigeon, you have them so if it flys away, you know its your legband so its your pigeon?

You can also keep track of different bloodlines. I have 3 different bloodlines of barnevelders, so I have them marked by their bloodline.

Someone said they use these instead of the metal ones provided by the state for testing. How do you go about doing this? How can I just remove a band and put a different one on? How would they know that I didn't put the band on a different bird?
