I will try to get some pics this week. Some have gold leakage for sure. Some are showing some birchen influence. A few look pretty good. Were it not for the hawk attack a few weeks ago I would be in a good place with my breeding program!

I think I have a White Marans. My friend gave me her hens. She lays a medium brown egg (4?) they are bigger than regular eggs and darker than than the Barred Rocks. I get maybe 2 eggs a week from her. Did I guess the right breed? Thanks in advance. Teresa.

She doesn't look like a Marans. A Marans has white skin and feathered legs. The one in the picture seems to have yellow legs (hard to tell from the pic), and no leg feathering.

My rocks and Wyandottes can lay dark eggs so that is not your clue. We need a better picture to help you and a picture of the egg would help. The person you got her from didn't know what she was?

No, she didn't know what kind they were. I will get a better picture up later today. She is more cream than white. I noticed upon looking closely at her feathers that there is white/cream barring on her wings and back. It's very light and I hadn't noticed it before.
