March hatch 2024

I was saving eggs for Easter hatch, (Rooster I borrowed did not cover eggs I set) but I bought some eggs to replace all the saved eggs. I did set a few eggs from that group. My eggs were not fertile, but these are hatching.

Don't worry, or preach the true temp is 101.

Grats! I'm sorry the borrowed rooster wasn't able to give you babies, but at least you got *some*.

I only kept a few of the bought eggs, 2 hatched, 2 are still in incubator, day 22. One pipped yesterday, (wrong end) but not ready to come out, blood edges on the shell. The other safety hole I made on the dark egg, started to peep as soon as the hole was made. I don't normally give or approve of safety holes, but it was day 22.

Day 3 for 22 eggs they look. Fine.

One egg does have a cracked, below, BUT I am not going to do anything, by the naked eye, when not candling it looks fine. I have seen, and hatched worse. Normally I don't set a cracked. But I think it will be fine. I got this.

If it does get to the point where you need to cover the crack, I suggest melting crayon wax. I have an egg I have done this with, it’s currently on day 4-6, and I can see a heartbeat when candling. Great pics!

The cracked egg was not fertile. I use nail polish. I have had them hatch using that method. Even a duck egg.

I always say nail polish but crayon is
another way you can go.

Last 2 did need help, but I let them kick off the shell.
So the black one is still in the bottom shell.
Below the black spot is not the eye, it is a spot.

Looks bad, but they are resting.
