Dear goodness, they are adorable

I just checked on the pipped egg under my hen and it had expanded the pip, but it was dead. 99% yolk absorbed, no air obstruction (unless momma’s breast skin smothered it) no clue why it quit.
It was a beautiful little grey duckling.

Thanks. This hen has never hatched any chicks. She had barely started laying before going broody. I had no idea if she could hatch ducklings. I think there are a couple more Call eggs, so we’ll see what happens with them. I’ll take any ducklings anyway, and hope she sits long enough to hatch the chicken eggs she is on.

I hope to check all the remaining eggs after dark tonight.

I leave them (Who am I kidding? I candle them 474926 times a day) and let them do their thing.
