Heyya guys! I'm convincing my family to clean out their old shed on the property I'm renting (long story), and I'll be able to turn it into a chicken coop! Now the biggest thing will be ventilation. This building isn't super tight at all, so there is a little bit already. Should I consider adding a peak vent, soffit vents, holes in the side.... etc. I live in Louisiana, so it's very humid. I plan on replacing the floor once everything is out and use that rubber paint everyone has mentioned (Blackjack 75 I think?). Here's a picture of the metal building. I know it's a bit far out but it's all I had at work.

The roof is a bit leaky, but that's not too hard to fix. Eventually I can replace anything but really, ANYTHING is better than what they have.

So! Recommendations? This'll probably turn into my coop thread eventually.

I had transformed a greenhouse and my saving grace was a vent fan at the top of the peak. I no longer use it as a main coop, but a chick coop. or, maybe cut some windows and add mesh, sandwich metal siding and mesh (takes two people one inside one outside) between cedar and screw then together.. Hope that makes sense. You can also design said window to have a cover, or shutters for bad weather. Make a couple on each side and you will get light and airflow.

Oh I want one of those vent fans SO BADLY lol. Now the benefit to living next door to family is that the shed next door has electricity.... I wonder if my grandfather would run me a line from it.... HMMMM.... (He was a navy electrician)

Here are some pics of the inside.

Very full of junk I know. But I see potential! I want windows but since this ULTIMATELY doesn't belong to me I'll have to negotiate lol. They don't know about the vents yet. XD

After looking more closely, I can at MINIMUM see large vents in the front and back. That's a single uncorrugated sheet so it should be easy to cut. From what I walked out I think it's about 10*16?

Should I consider painting to prevent further rusting? Food for thought.
