mixed breeds

I have one white leghorn rooster, and 10 hens (r.i. reds, barred rocks, americanas, buffs, white laced wyandottes). We would like to let some of the fertilized eggs hatch. Is that a good idea? they would be "mutts" right? why? or why not?

Yes mutts... because they are not from the same breed.

Lots of people do this, me included. There is something to be said for the idea of "hybrid vigor," IMO, meaning offspring that are in one way or another an improvement.
