I am very confused as to what is going on with my chicken.

I noticed a few weeks ago that her rear end was bald. The feathers grew back in, and all was good.

Now there are feathers everywhere- all different types. However, she still doesn't have any noticeable bald spots?

Many birds molt without being bald, which is called a hard molt. Many will slowly molt out, there has been some unusual molting this year.

That makes me feel better! Thank you!

It has been extremely strange here, weather-wise. Seventy degrees one week, and forty the next.

I noticed 2 hens with small bald spots on the side of their necks. 1 year old. Could this be a molt starting, or another chicken picking?

Some chickens go through a neck molt in spring, so if you see new pin feathers growing in soon I would suspect a small molt. It is also possible other birds are feather picking. Quietly observe the flock and you might see it happening if it is what is going on.
