Well- you did a good job at giving. I love that first boy and the pic of the chicks at the feeder makes me want to start hatching. I love the color of the smoky grey ones. I'm assuming blue mottled?

Yes, blue Mottled. I have been getting a lot of those this year since I stopped listening to the "experts" and went with what I knew to be true.

He may not be perfect mottled but I think he is fine looking.
Is there anyone working on LF Mottled Cochins? Would love to see some pictures.

Still a pretty bird! Looks Birchen crossed with Mottled. Not sure the genetics on Birchen.

Sorry i should have been a bit more specific. He is a E/e^b split, from a partridge cockerel X black hen. Had no idea either had mottling.
Being split on the e locus means this boy has better feet and shanks that a pure EE bird, much brighter yellow, but there is yellow leaking into the hackle feathers from the partridge, i suspect this will get worse with age too.
