Mottled Silkie with Blue/Green eggs Project.

The mother for the F2 gen was a black silkie so there is only a 1/4 chance the any of them will have it. I will have to do test mating's to see who has the gene and who does not. I have also been following the other thread about mottled silkies and it looks like its been going great.

Hi everyone,
Chicks are now over 12 weeks old and going well except for one of the young roosters and of course he's one of my favorites that I was planning of trying to breed him with the f2 hens once they reach breeding age. Some of the hens are looking really good for breeding.

Nice! Any photos? Are any of them Silkied?
Have you noticed any faint white tips on any of the chicks? In my expereince, mottled splits will have white tipped toe feathers, end of wing feathers, and head feathers. Like I said, VERY faint and it goes away at about the 3 to 4 month mark....

Here are the girls

The normal girl at the front on the pics is one of my favorites and the one with the silkie feathers and giant puff is the other fav. Although as you can see the one at the front has a bluish lased look. Don't know were that can from. She super gorgeous no matter what.

Update mottled silkes line 2:
I finally have some mottled chicks. They are from the second blood line. The chicks are 60% pekin and 40% silkie. Mom was pure mottled pekin and dad was 3/4 silkie and 1/4 pekin mottled carrier. i think one of the chicks is half aracauna. When they are at breeding age i will breed them all Line 2 mottles together to hopefully intensify the mottling gene and get some babies with silkie feathers.
