My serama breeding, and showing project!

This is going to be my diary for my breeding, Scores of my birds at shows, and what happens with them! Feel free to critique my birds, or ask questions!


I currently have two pens, But I am planning on hatching in the spring.

Pen #1

Roosters name is surviver, If anyone wants to hear the story on that feel free to ask!
I took him to a serama show and he scored a 74... he is going to be a year old in may, He is my biggest bird, He weighs 19 oz, But the hens in this pen are both under 14 oz... so that helps with that

When I took the pictures of all my birds they where a little impatient... They look a lot nicer in real life lol!

This is one of my hens in this pen Her name is Annabeth


She is from Jerrys seramas, she isn't the best quality, but she has the personality that I like, And eventually I will stop breeding her, but so far she hasn't layed any eggs, and she weighs 13 oz... So she may never lay any, but I will keep her for now.

This is my silkied hen, pebbles, I don't remember the name of the breeder I got her from, Sorry!



Pen #2

The Cockerel and the First pullet in this pen are from Jerrys seramas I am super proud of the first pullet!

This is Nugget, he is a little long in the back, but he is young still, so it will probably start looking shorter as he gets older!


This is Bellatrix, She is The one I am very proud of, when she is not half asleep she is one of the best quality hens I have seen in person!



And this is Nemo, she was hatched from a shipped egg, and she was the only one to hatch, and she has no social skills, but I like her quality and personality so she is staying, Its not her fault! I got her eggs from ebay, If anyone wants the username of the seller, just ask!




Any way, Thats them, I will get pictures and scores at the show that I am going to in febuary up As soon as possible!

Hi prizepete,

I saw that you mentioned that you got your eggs from a breeder on ebay. Which breeder did you buy your eggs from?

I'm a little afraid of getting eggs from ebay since I've heard so much about dishonest sellers on there, but have not had any luck finding breeders near me (northern California) who sell or ship eggs that carry the frizzle or silkie gene.

Hi there, I Have bought eggs from ebay twice, One was a great Experience, and the second breeders eggs where not only not fertile at the time, but They where shipped horribly. the good Breeder is decaturdude


On a sad note, Nemo was very weak when I got home yesterday and died last night

If I wasnt having issues with fert I would offer eggs to get you youngsters started, but its not worth trying until we figure the roo issue out!

ok I went to a show Yesterday And I did really Well! in serama tt shows there are different tiers and everyone shows in the first one, than you can get called back, the only one of mine to get called back was my silkied, pebbles. It was me and one other silkied female, mine got champion, so I got called back for their 3, which is when all of the females go together and compete for champion and reserve champion, Pebbles got reserve champion in this tier, so she did not get to compete for grand champion of show, but I am very proud and at the next show she has a chance!

Thanks! Surviver is a bit big, But I really like his type so I am keeping him and seeing what his babies turn out like
