Three weeks ago we had no chickens and now we have 5! Matilda and Victoria were the first to join our family after they had been in my local pet shop for a number of weeks, I just couldn't leave them there a day longer in the small cage. Last week we also welcomed the little ones which my children have named Chica, Toothless and Nugget. in this short time we have all fallen in love with our little fluff balls and will be making plans on getting more chickens of different breeds in the future :)

Hi, I love them.
Don’t hurry to add different breeds, my silkies got bullied and we hat to give them their own coop. They are a different breed and need to be safe.

Trim their cheeks and heads around their eyes , trim nails and between toes, watch for dirty butts

Defiantly in no rush to get more just yet but my husband has requested I get some other breeds more for egg laying so I'll defiantly need to organize a separate coop etc for them. For now we are focusing on the silkies and once the little ones are grown and settled we will make plans for others.
I was planning on giving them a trim especially for poor Victoria who seems to have trouble seeing but I wasn't sure about their feet, will also do them and keep an eye on the bottoms

And their egg production is impressive considering their food consumption is low . We will get 10-12 small eggs a week from our 3 hens .Eggs are very rich since the yolk is large . Production increased after adding a rooster and broodiness decreased.
