Our very 1st Egg!

Thank you so much! And thank you for the advice too! All is welcome haha. This has been such a fun adventure already! I enjoy just sitting outside in the evenings and watching them!
Chicken TV! :D BYC is the perfect place for all the questions, so feel free to ask as many questions as needed! :)

Congrats! Oh, that first egg feeling is awesome :) She has beautiful subtle markings. The dark red one behind her does look like a RIR from what I can see, she has red earlobes and is considerably darker. Note the new layer has white earlobes. Anyway, congrats again!
Yes!! They were from the same bin (the bin was supposed to be Rhode island red and barred rock pullets) so I'm assuming she was just an accidental mix-up or an accidental mixed breed?? (can that even happen at hatcheries??) And I noticed her big white earlobes and looked around and saw it was rare for RIRs to have them so I thought she was just a special girl haha boy how right I was!

I noticed even as chicks that she and Babs (the one behind her) had some subtle differences. Ducky has always been a very bright red since she started getting her feathers while Babs are like a dark almost chocolate with red tint and she has some white feathers mixed in while Ducky (the blue egg layer) has several black feathers mixed with her bright red! They looked similar enough as they got older so I just assumed it was just different genetics! Here's a pic of them both standing together and a full body pic of each! Love the names lol. Yes, she appears to be some mix of some sort, but I find it very unusual for Ducky to have a single comb and lay a blue egg. Of course, I am sure one of the experts here can enlighten us on the breeds that can have this trait, but I am not aware of any! Beautiful ladies.

I'm definitely no expert, but I believe I found the answer yesterday! I looked at the hatchery where our TSC gets their chicks from and found out they have Starlight Green Eggers which are a mix of a Prairie Bluebell Egger and a brown egg layer! They have single combs and after looking at a lot of pictures of this breed, I found a lot of them look like her!
