I would bet it's either an armadillo or a raccoon. If you really want to know you can get a cheap game camera and set it up, but a more efficient plan would be to just buy or rent a wire trap, disguise the heck out of it, bait it, and see what's in there in the morning. Make sure to check up on your nuisance animal laws first though. Good luck.
