Mystery piece of flesh inside chicken

my husband is calling this a tumor. It looks like mystery organ meat. Does anyone know what this is?? It is sliced in half

Where on the bird was it? It doesn't look like any organ I can picture right now, but I could be wrong too.

I'll have to ask my husband when I get a chance. He said all the other organs were accounted for. It's bizarre. Do chickens get cancer? She was a two-year-old layer. It makes me nervous about eating the meat.
