With it being only the white birds sounds like it could be poor health of, or something passed on from parent. Nothing going on with your other varieties?

Some are little skittish and others are more curious. I am working on trying to get them to come eat from my hand too! Any tips on how to warm them up to me more? They will run up to the bin wall to say hi then run back to their buddies. How friendly are your chicks? Button quail are known to be very skittish if they are not tamed as babies. My adult buttons will eat from my hand but they freak out if I try to touch them.
Ok I will try this.Don't see anything wrong with your other info just a little warm on the heat but that shouldn't be causing this. I start out about 95 for a few days then slowly drop a few degrees every few days.
Don't believe heat is causing this. There is no other problems with other varieties?Ok I will try this.
Thank you.
You need to spend as much time with them as possible. Take them out alot, hand feed them a lot, etc. If they get skittish as they grow, (which happens often) you could try putting them in a smaller cage and then putting your hand in there so they have no where to run and will get used to you. Button chicks also like to hide under a hand it makes them feel safe and if you tap your finger on the ground they should come over. Some are little skittish and others are more curious. One thing to help with them being so skittish is to not come at them from above always try to move towards them from their level. Reaching from above triggers instincts of predators attacking from overhead. Some are little skittish and others are more curious. I am working on trying to get them to come eat from my hand too! I'm glad ito learn it wasn't me , feel bad enough as is. I fell in love with them.I'm not seeing anything wrong with your setup or feed. Are any of the white ones albinos? Can you post a close pic of one of the white ones?
I would say it is a bit warm (but not enough to do harm) at the hot end, but since you have a cool end, heat is unlikely to be the issue.
I would say disease except that it's only the white ones. I'm leaning towards something genetic at this point, but you may consider sending one of the dead ones to a local necropsy lab for cause of death.
The first one looks healthy, but the second one doesn't. I hope they make it. Good luck.I'm glad ito learn it wasn't me , feel bad enough as is. I fell in love with them.
I will definitely look into this!
Here are my last two living white babies.
