New chicks

what do i feed newly hatched chicks. I'm picking up 6 fertilized eggs tomorrow but i've looked every where but still no idea what to get. Also do i feed and leave water for my brooder or will she go and get food when she is hungry?

Feed them a starter/grower or a flock raiser, 18 - 20% protein. They can get this their entire life with oyster shells on the side once they start laying.

Chick starter is great for newly hatched chicks 0-6 weeks.

As for the broody hen, it varies. Some brooders will get up and eat when they need to but others won't and may get dehydrated and thin:

I would advise keeping food + water in close proximity of the brood hen and putting some electrolytes/vitamins and minerals in the water if the hen is not drinking/eating much.
