New member needs help

Hi just joined this forum and I have a new problem. I just cleaned the coop and spread pine shavings on the floor. Now the two hens will not get of the roost, very confusing I can't figure out why. I did change from pine chips to pine shavings could that be the reason??

Birds are funny - they dislike change. As prey animals they are very cautious. Your hens are 'scared' by the new bedding.

Not knowing how to proceed I guess I will wait and see if they concur their fear.

Welcome! Your hens will be fine. New bedding has just spooked them a bit, and they are probably over it already. Mary

Me I think I would pick them up and put them on it see how that takes them if they jump back up do it again but further away so they have to walk to it

Thanks for the ideas I had a few handfuls of the pine chips so I spread them on the top of the shavings. That did the trick they eyeballed the chips and flew right down. Chickens!
