New Mexico

My banties are 5 weeks old now. I let them out for supervised play this evening and Romeo my, I think, Silver Laced Cochin cockerel jumped up and my lap to be petted, he sat there peeping lovingly and snuggling and turning happy cirlces until it got dark and I shooed everyone in the coop for the night ^_^ totally surprised me, though he pushes everyone out of the way to be petted when they are on the ground. Mary Ann, one of my Buff Black Tailed Japanse, got jealous and flew from the ground to my head. Such silly babies

Hi, I'm in Socorro NM, brand new here. Had a mix of chickens years ago, gave them away when I got pregnant and put on bed rest. I have 7 Delawares and 2 Ameracunas, raised them from chicks this summer. Also dogs, cats, horses, cattle, guinea pig, and fish. Oh yeah, two kids running around in the mix somewhere!

Welcome to all the new chicks on the block. After a 2 week trip out of town it is time to get back to reality. I need to thin out my marans and a few of my lav orpingtons... and get my flock back in check... seems they were waking up on the wrong side of the roost while I was gone and are still cranky... glad to get back to a routine for a bit...
