Are you wanting show quality birds or pet quality? That will play into where you want to source your birds from. I would suggest starting to network with other BYCers in the same area you are in (you can use the https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you section here on the forums to do this). Also, with the coming of Spring you will find many poultry events and swaps starting to fire up - visiting shows, your local/state fair, etc are great ways to start identifying those in your general area with the sorts of birds you are hoping to add to your flock.
