So my last three to join the flock are being introduced this week. Since they are so small we don't want them to get hurt. These three are Merideth, Judith, and Karen. These are my three mystic marans. They are lovely and they still peep so softly. Their claws are no joke though! OUCH! Anyway, I was wondering why one of my girls looks different from the other 2. Her eyes are brown and no feathers on her legs? Any thoughts? They are roughly 12 or 13 weeks old.

Hello! They are beautiful little girls! :love

Did you get all the chicks from the same place? Did you hatch them or buy them from the store? If they were from a hatchery or feed and supply store then it’s likely that the parents don’t have 100% perfect genes for the breed, or they have another breed mixed in that causes them to have these traits. I don’t know anything about genetics though, so maybe someone else can give you a better answer. Best of luck, and I hope you’re able to find some answers!

They came from a hatchery and they were listed as mystic marans. The two have pretty gold eyes but this one has lovely dark brown almost black. They are memorizing. They are sweet as can be. Whatever they are, I am happy to have them.
