Green Mountain Feeds makes a feed w/o soy. It is new. I would copy and paste their site but I can't. They are a vermont based grainery. It is as local as I am going to get. That was something I was wondering too. What kind of feed do you give them ? Any soy in it ?
Could you eat just the white ? But not the yolk ?
This is what I am really afraid of! I want ducks soo bad!! If I went there I'd probably cave on those alone! But again I can't do 6, I'd only want to start off with 2-3.Oh, and I did NOT buy chicks at TSC. I bought six Khaki Campbell ducklings instead. They have a very bad habit of happening to have the exact breed I want when I go in there. I'll stick with local chicks from my peeps here, though! These are little sweeties - much more laid back than my Rouens were as ducklings.
Quote: That is SUPER. Thanks and 350 oven? Thanks again, Aria
So after having some french toast this morning for breakfast, I will definately cross eggs off my list of things to eat. I know I have a sulfate and sulfite allergy and todays breakfast confirms that no matter how I cook them, eggs leave me running for benedryl and an inhaler. This is rediculous. I love eggs! I like breathing more though so I guess a girl has to do what a girl has to do. It doesnt pay to get old (er). My list of acceptable food choices is getting smaller but on the bright side it has been good for weight loss!!!
Egg song is ringing loud and frequent in the terrorist coop. Going to be another banner production day today I think. Now if all this snow would melt everyone would be happy. They really need to get out and freerange.
My little Sassy witchy pants is broody again. I will have to see if she is on eggs and mark them so I can pull any others over the next 21 days or so. She is the broodiest silkie pint size hen ever and she has a temper to match. I will let her sit though because she is a very good momma and NOBODY messes with her babies.
Off to another exciting fun filled day at the pharm. Chicken daddy gets to be in charge which means his hens will work him for all the scratch and leftovers they can get. That man is SO owned by those girls. Why do moms always have to be the mean ones???

The dark coating on the Marans shell prevents normal evaporation of liquid. I dry hatch all my eggs. If you crack open the eggs that don't hatch, you will probaly see liquid moving around. When the fluid isn't evaporated enough, the chick will pip into the air cell & drown. I dry hatch all my eggs, & get much better hatch success in all the breeds.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried duck eggs? Sometimes, people who are allergic to chicken eggs aren't allergic to duck eggs. Strange but true.
On the topic of eggs, how are everyone's birds laying? Mine were doing great up until last week, at which point they ALL decided to stop except one Easter Egger who's doing about two eggs a week.
