The garden is kicking my rear end today!
You know it will grow if you don't go out there daily.. It gets easier then...
I really don't know, I've collected the starts from other people and it just does very well with no effort from me other than trying to keep the ducks from nesting in it when the water is low LOLElwood are the water Iris aka Siberian Iris? I arrived late at a church plant sale several years ago after everything had been picked over. Mentioned how picked over the plants were to the lady at the bake sale table and she pointed me to a peach can with what looked like a clump of grass in it. She said no one had shown any interest in it but that it was the best deal in the sale. I bought it, planted it, and the following Spring was rewarded with the most delicately lovely deep blue Iris. I left them at the house in Lawrence, KS but may just dig up a clump when we go back to visit my daughter. They thrive with very little attention and are, like yours, verily beautiful.
Elwood, I love the flowers!!! Especially the roses! I want a trellis like that I will have to show hubby how you made that! Those water flowers are very pretty, I might have to try some of those in our pond. I tried water flowers last year and then the pond went and dried up!
Love the fish pic Elwood. Are the gambusia the mosquito fish? I used to keep minnows in my horse's stock tank. It kept the water cleaner. A long time ago we had an arabian gelding that would actually stick his head in the tank trying to catch the fish. I have pictures of it somewhere around here. Of course we were still using film them.I really don't know, I've collected the starts from other people and it just does very well with no effort from me other than trying to keep the ducks from nesting in it when the water is low LOL
I don't have any real fish you could fish for in it just some goldfish, pond comets and gambusia they are kinda hard to see but here is a pic of the gambusia I have thousands of them and that's an underestimate LOL I have some snakes I try to keep thinned out and way too many turtles
Exciting news! I have 12 new babies today!! The chicks I ordered from TX finally made it here. After a nerve wracking night when they did not arrive yesterday morning and Austin sorting area had LOST them! From what I have been told they arrived in plenty of time for the plane but were put in a different area, then the worker forgot about them.I was panicking because these were older 10 day olds so did not have that time cushion. The wonderful lady I bought them from had grogel in the box thank goodness. All of it was gone this morning when I picked them up and we had lost one chick. It could have been so much worse. I had even had them held at Norman P.O. so they would not have that extra day in transit. Can you believe the worker at the Norman P.O actually chewed me out for not having them shipped to Tecumseh and refused to stay and witness my opening the box. She said if any were dead it was my fault!! I demanded someone else be present then came home and filed a complaint with USPS.They are lucky I was more concerned with getting the chicks home at that point than standing on someones desk or you all would have been witnessing my being escorted out of P.O. on the noon news! I had brought wet mash for the babies and water so they ate and drank all the way home, sitting in a big tub in my lap of course!
*In with the good air**out with the bad* Okay I am better now. I will post pics later today of the cuties. I have 4 buff laced brahmas, 4 Swedish flower hens, and 4 extras that the lady sent. They are gold laced and silver laced brahmas. It looks like the one that did not make is was a Blue laced Red brahma. I am over the moon right now and have had to show amazing restraint to leave them alone and let them rest. I want to pick them up and cuddle them so bad!!!
Okay hushing up for now!

Oats, every day they get a scoop. I haven't added anything to it, you don't even need the acv it will ferment on it's own, but if you want to get fancy there are many, many recipes for additives. Be aware it STINKS. I use a 33 gallon trash can (plastic) that way I can put a whole 50 lb bag at once. The only "special" thing I do is not to add chlorinated water straight from the tap, the night before I add the oats I set out a couple of 5 gall buckets of water to let the chlorine "air out" overnight. They love it, the stinkier it gets the more they love it. The chickie doos (baby NN) scarf it down too.
Soaked Oats works best.. you can also use wheat, and add redcell if you choose. Soak for 2-3 days in water and when they start to sprout feed free choice. This is great during the hot summer as it gives them the additional moisture they need.

28 yrs old? You're a good caretaker.Great! I have the healthy coat in the animal cupboard also. I used it with my mare. Sadly I lost her this last Jan at age 28. She had been with me since she was 3 months old.I was not good for quite a bit after that day. I never realized I could use my horse items on the birds. I will have to pull everything out and see what I can use!
Ohhh that little owl looks like he is giving the ol' stink eye! but that is so neat she got a picture of it like that.
Shellie you can come fish our pond all you want!!! Oh wait that is only if you like turtle because that and snakes is all that is in my pond! We want fish but we can't keep the turtles from eating everything else! The snakes are bad this year we have killed 3 already.
