Look at those blue feet!

I'm leaning roo on the top one. The bottom one is DEFINITELY a roo- see how THICK his legs are?

Thanks all for the kind words. I didn't think I would get attached to a Chicken lol!

Robin, chiggers, will chickens eat those? We have a blackberry bush and each time I go to pick berries I get bombarded with chigger bites!

Also, anyone know if its bad for wild rabbits to be around chickens? I just didn't know if it's ok or not because our rabbits look wormy and I know they have ticks. They're cute but I don't want them around if they pass of stuff to my flock like rodents.

Chiggers are barely visible to the naked eye. I don't think chickens can eat them, and they are so small I don't think guineas will, either. Best plan is to keep the grass shot/mowed where you want to walk frequently, and when you go out where they might be hiding use insect spray or go natural, with sulfur or oils: http://www.experience-essential-oils.com/chigger-repellent.html

@subhanalah does this work for you? I can come get her today, Im hoping before my husband gets off work but if not it will be around 6pm.

@Ksane I think you should know the big boy and I actually cried when we found out you were willing to do this for us. I know it was irresponsible of the hubby to bring her home in the first place

but we fell in love. I can drive your way immediately after getting Geo.
Awe, I'm so glad you guys worked it out.

Hello Everyone. I've been lurking for a while but finally decided to formally join. You all are so friendly and helpful, I have so much fun following this thread and I've already learned so much. Looking forward to lots more.

I love kids and your son is awesome. My boys are 18 and 36 now and I miss very much them being your son's age, that was always my favorite age. They try to be so protective of their mamas at that age :)
Don't be too hard on your husband. I've bought birds on impulse before and had to scramble afterwards to figure out what to do, we all have. We can meet somewhere closer to you so you won't have to go so far with kids.
Subhanala, sound good to you??

That sounds perfect to me! As soon as I hear from @subhanalah I will set up a time and we can pick a spot. ill come up Sooner road the whole way (darn that interstate fear) so if you're near there that would work for me. I think I said Goe is in Yukon earlier, I was way off. I think I do so many chicken runs I get terribly confused. I won't post exactly where she's at but North on Sooner is where Im heading.

I know where she's at and that'll work fine.

Working on the tunnels for the underground / burmed rabbit dens today. Getting closer to having them out of the temporary kennels and into their proper rabbit digs.

I am thinking about housing these two together forever. They are so bonded and really enjoy living w/ each other. He is on the small side so was going to get another male anyway, but not until this 4 space den/run is complete anyway. If this one works as well as I anticipate we'll make one more later this year, that should give enough space for 3 adult females, 1(additional)male and the grow outs.

When I get the new ones I'm trying to decide between silver fox and chinchilla. My chickens are all over the place mixed breed, but for the rabbits I am really wanting to stick to one breed, since I am planning on selling the pelts to offset the cost of keeping the rabbits. I'm leaning towards chinchilla since I have seen a source close to me, from my reading I think I would need to keep the silver fox longer then I was planning (which is already longer then most meat rabbits) to get the right color of coat, but I will do some more research before deciding completely, especially since the silver fox pelt would sell for more.

I would love to see your rabbit housing when its done, specifically the underground tunnels. I need some ideas. We won't raise rabbits but we do have the 1 pet and I would like to get him a neutered buddy. But Im kind of postponing it until after the move. All of a sudden we have a million things to do.

I've been taking pics to document the stuff we are doing, haven't posted any yet, waiting until there is something complete to post. I have a spot picked out for the next set up. Each one is under a big tree and gets mostly shade. When complete each rabbit will have an underground den about 1/4 the size of a refrigerator, and outside enclosed room about 3x3 and an outside fenced in run w/ forage gardens about 5 x 10
