my own problem with silkies, is i free range... so bearded varieties end up dinner more than likely. now if they were non-bearded, they could probably see better and would fit in better. 8)

well, besides the fact that my dorkings have decided to lay elsewhere, so finding their eggs is a challenge... 2 more and i can send off my first swap's bunch LOL

You have really beautiful Silkies. They will move soon, this is just a slow time of year for lots of people hatching. I'm a Chicken Junkie and have 5 full bators as I type. lol I know there are others just like me out there though. Don't worry, they'll get snagged soon.

My Silkies free range all the time. (Unless I see a hawk.) I do trim around their eyes or use organic hair gel to slick their poofs back a bit. I think it really helps them see to eat and avoid bad predators and other chickens. They seem happier to me when they can see. IMO

Actually those feeders work great. I bought them locally for $5 eac. I need to make some for all of my stalls. They don't get any spilled food on the ground so no waste. I fill it up enough to last them for 2-3 days.
